Serious Art for Serious Collectors & Investors

Ginet Leblond

Ginet has been painting for over   30 years and enjoys experimenting with different surfaces,

shapes, and colours. Over the years Ginet has mastered unique techniques that enable her to arouse different emotions in all types of viewers.

She attended her first art school at the age of 19. She was directed and encouraged from the beginning by Lauréanne Morneau, M.A. from Indiana University, with whom she took private oil painting lessons at “La Maison Ste-Marie-des-Anges”. In 1975, she completed her prerequisites at Cégep Ste-Foy to fulfill her admission requirements for university. Prior to attending University Ginet took a course taught by J.P. Garneau which specialized in sculpting techniques - this awoke a new interest for her. With the support of other sculptors such as: Jean-Paul Garneau, Paul-André Bécotte, P-A Tardivel, she was asked to represent all women sculptors by participating in a demonstration of a cast metal at “St-Jean-Baptiste” on St-Jean street in Québec.

In 1981, she was admitted to Laval University, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in 1987. During her schooling, Ginet taught in her own private studio in St. Rédempteur. From 1989-1990, she studied at the Centre de céramique of Sté-Fey. Soon after, she had an exhibition of sculptures at La Maison Maheux-Couillard. From 1991-1996, she taught drawing and oil painting at Lucie Désroches. In 1993, Ginet met Marc-André Fortin, now her husband, a refined connoisseur of Québec's antiquities. Together, their passion for the past set them to embark on an unusual project. Marc-André would refurbish old doors and wood furniture which Ginet would then beautifully decorate with one of a kind paintings.

Today she primarily works with oil on board, able to masterfully convey historic scenes from Québec’s past. Her husband still designs unique custom frames for many of her paintings. You can find Ginet conducting research prior to beginning any paintings in order to produce authentic representational works. Her ability to convey light and environmental conditions are sure to liven your spirits and create a sense familiarity with Canadian landscapes.

Galerie Q is proud to be the first gallery outside the province of Quebec to hold a wide collection of Ginet’s work. Her work will be on permanent exhibit at Galerie Q.
