Solo Artist, Olga Muzychko began her art studies in Russia. She continued her learning at the Toronto School of the Arts after moving to Canada. Yvon Lemieux: Solo Show

Yvon Lemieux was born in Québec City, 1949. He started painting at the age of 17, and continues to paint to this day. His artistic career spans over 50 years; a testament to his dedication. Lemieux’s nickname, le peintre au chapeau, grants an insightful description of the his artistic technique. He is known for setting up his easel when and wherever inspiration surfaces: in the streets of Old Québec, on the edge of Le Fleuve Saint-Laurent, in the heart of Côte de Beaupré, or the region of Charlevoix. Lemieux is particularly inspired by artist Clarence Gagnon (1881-1942); he keeps in mind Gagnon’s compositions and atmospheres while creating his own works.

Galerie Q is pleased to announce Abstract Expressionism, a group exhibition that brings together over 20 works by 6 different artists including Juan Cristobal, Linda Woolven, Olga Muzychko, Nathalie Voisine, Markus Billiard and Jerry Brennan.Inspired by the postwar action painters, this group show explores movement and colour in a dynamic way.The gestural application of paint found within each of these artist’s work infuses the canvas with a life force. For every stroke, the artist record’s their own personal expression however shaky or smooth that may be.

     
     

Armand Tatossian: Artist of the Century

Galerie Q is pleased to partner with the Tatossian Foundation to bring you an exclusive exhibition featuring the spectacular work of RCA painter, Armand Tatossian. Born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1951, Armand is the second of four children of Anahid and Charles Tatossian who emigrated to Canada in the early 60's. In 1973, at the tender age of 22, Tatossian was honoured to be amongst the youngest members admitted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (R.C.A.) Tatossian's exuberant artistic energy can be witnessed through his original oils on canvas in a variety of subjects ranging from landscapes to abstracts and still life’s, to tone on tone, and the ever so distinctive style dubbed, Tatossianisme.

A solo exhibition featuring Canadian Master Albert Rousseau. Born in Sainte-Étienne-de-Lauzon, Quebec in 1908 and painting for over 50 years, Rousseau experimented with many genres including portraiture and gestural painting. Among all genres, he was fascinated by the ever changing quality of the landscape. Many of Rousseau's works will often feature quaint neighbourhoods decorated with vibrant colours and textured landscapes.

Although Leblond primarily works in the medium of painting, glimpses of her interest in sculptural techniques can be seen in her paintings today. Today, Leblond primarily works with on oil on board. Her paintings feature historical subject matter with contemporary relevance.

Picher is not only a revered Canadian Painter, He also became a professional within his field as Exhibition Director and Museum Administrator. Picher reminds us of the heritage and natural beauty found within Canada, distinct and expressive, his style re-introduces a landscape full of spirit and vitality.

     
   

Leclerc: Solo Exhibition

New to the collection is impressionist painter Raynald Leclerc whose consistent pursuit of spontaneity, sunlight, and colour garners the full attention of his viewers. Leclerc's expressive and highly impressionistic style is praised in Quebec City, parts of Europe and the United States. Using short, thick strokes of paint, he quickly captures the essence of the subject without rendering it completely. Leclerc’s works are often figurative, using a palette knife to manipulate shadow and light with luscious and expressive colour.

Solo Exhibition featuring works by Bergeron who built his own style, learning from the great master painters in Quebec, such as Francesco Lacurto of whom he was a student and a model. In the past ten years, he has been developing and perfecting a modern (prismatic) style of his own. Known for the mastery of the spatula, his only tool, and for his bright colours and contrasts, Bergeron artfully exploits the acrylic medium’s unique potential and generously deploys an explosive palette of brilliant, eye-catching colours.

The extensive “Q Collection” contains over 500 art treasures by Quebec and other Canadian masters. Masterworks from the Q Collection will feature over 20 works by Quebec’s highest ranking artists, including many of those who have achieved RCA designation. Artist will include
Allen Sapp, Goodridge Roberts, Armand Tatossian, Ghitta Caiserman-Roth, Claude Picher, Claude Le Sauteur, Albert Rousseau, and Bruno Côtè.

Outdoor Painting Festival

Saturday, October 1st to Sunday, October 2nd

Join us for the 1st Annual Cavan/Millbrook Outdoor Painting Festival, held in conjunction with Canada Culture Days. This “Open Air” painting competition will feature 55 artists working at different outdoor locations in the Village of Millbrook and the surrounding Cavan country-side. Visitors are invited to come and see the competitors as their paintings develop in real time. Artist's work will be juried, with $3000 in prizes to be awarded.

Galerie Q invites you to attend “The Big Reveal” award ceremony & reception on Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00pm. Awards will be announced by Mayor Scott McFadden. Complimentary food and drinks will be provided. Guests in attendance at this time will also have a chance at winning an original landscape painting by Q artist Yvon Lemieux.
