Zema Haworth

Zema Cogill Haworth, was born in Queenstown, South Africa in 1900. Haworth studied at the Royal College of Art in London and moved to Toronto in 1923.

Haworth was assigned to record activities of the Canadian Armed Forces in British Columbia during World War II and she designed silkscreen prints for the National Gallery of Canada.

She taught at the Toronto Central Technical School and lectured at the University of Toronto.

Haworth worked in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed mediums, and gouache, in an expressionist style, with a focus on landscapes, shore-scapes and abstracts. She also did work as an illustrator, muralist and potter. 

Haworth was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy, the Canadian Group of Painters, the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and the Ontario Society of Artists.

She died in 1988.
