Tom Hodgson was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1924. He studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto.
As a member of the Canadian abstract group Painters Eleven, Hodgson encountered much criticism throughout his career, to this day his work seems to be under appreciated.
During the 1950's and 1960's his paintings captured the action in the world around us, he was one of few in the Painters Eleven group that worked on extra large canvases. He often worked in vibrant warm tones.
Hodgson died in Toronto in 2006.
