Ron Moppett was born in England in 1945. He emigrated to Canada in 1957 and studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary from 1963 to 1967. Followed by studies at the Instituto de Allende in Mexico in 1968.
Moppett's work draws on realism and representation, he explores historical and cultural techniques and styles in order to create diverse and unique works. His work often comments on pop culture.
Moppett uses oil and acrylic paint, stencils, and an array of shapes to create complex works with mutiple layers of meaning.
Currently Moppett lives and works in Calgary, Alberta.
