Pat Fairhead was born in Hull, Yorkshire, England, and arrived in Canada at the age of ten. She has been painting for over thirty-five years.
Fairhead enjoys the outdoors and finds inspiration in all places she travels. She has been to the high Arctice nine times, paddled the west coast of British Columbia, camped in the Amazon rainforest, hiked the back country of Australia. explored Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Egypt, Europe, and New Zealand. In May 2011 she took a trip to the Scottish Isles by ship, in preparation for an exhibition of Scottish watercolours.
Her subject matter is almost always nature and landscapes. She is fascinated by water and her paintings often depict bodies of water and the environments they're found in. She works with watercolours on paper and enjoys creating large artworks.
Fairhead has had over seventy shows in Canada and the United States. Her work is part of over 200 corporate collections, National and Provincial collections and she has a watercolour in the Royal Collection of Prints & Drawings, Windsor Castle, England. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
