Isabel Kann was born in 1921, in Bangalore, India. She studied at Bournemouth Art School in England from 1938 to 1942 and the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland under Sr. Wm. Gillies from 1942 to 47. Following her studies Kann was awarded a one year Post-Graduate Scholarship at the College.
Kann immigrated to Canada during the 1950's with her family. While raising her children she completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto in 1974.
She began to exhibit her work regularly in the late 1970's. Her work has been fairly consitent throughout her career, her subject matter is often still-life interiors with a realistic approach.
Kann is represented in both public and private collections in Canada and the US. She is a member of The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
