Graham Cantieni was born in Albury, Australia in 1938. Cantieni immigrated to Canada in 1968. He currently lives and works in Montréal.
Cantieni received his Master degree of Art History from Concordia University in 1987. Before that, in 1972, Cantieni became an Intern in England (Education) and later had Internship in Scandinavia, at a museum, as well as in Montréal followed by the Netherlands in 1974 studying museology. He completed an internship in Italy in lithography. He also has a Royal Melbourne Teachers' College teaching certificate.
Cantieni began his teaching career at the University of Québec in Montréal from 1978-1989. He was a professor of University of Québec at Trois-Rivières.
His paintings are abstract and use vibrant colours to convey emotion.
