François Vincent was born in Montréal, Québec in 1951. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from L'Université du Québec à Montréal in1974. He also studied with the printmaker François-Xavier Marange in Paris in 1983 and 1984
He has held solo shows of paintings and prints at venues such as Galerie Catherine Boyer in Paris; the Artgraph gallery in Nagoya, Japan; Galerie Éric Devlin and Galerie Simon Blais in Montreal; the Shirakawa gallery in Kyoto; Galerie St-Laurent & Hill in Ottawa; Studio 21 in Halifax; and Galerie Madeleine Lacerte in Quebec City.
He has participated in many group and solo shows across Canada and internationally.
He has won awards from the Ministère de la Culture du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, and Loto Québec, among others. In 1997, he received the Jacques Cartier Arts Award in Lyon, France. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Academy.
His works can be seen in the collections of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, and the Canada Council Art Bank.
