Claude A Simard, was born in Québec City in 1943. He studied at The Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto graduating in 1966. He returned to Québec shortly after his studies.
From 1966-73 he was head of Design for the Simons stores in Montréal. From 1973-84 he was president Communikart Design Group and from 1984-2001 he was a professor at Laval University.
He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1981. Simard was a founding member of Québec Graphic Designers Society.
His works have been exhibited internationally and are part of many private and public collections across Canada. He has created works that have been used for numerous publications and cards for organizations such as Hallmark and UNICEF. He also created stamps for Canada Post.
