Brian Burke was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on August 5, 1952. He studied design at Holland College (1971-73) and Fine Art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (1974).
Burke is a figurative painter, often his work combines satire and social commentary embracing themes such as Coporate America, modernity, loneliness and human emotions.
He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
He has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts. His work has been exhibited in numerous public galleries in group and solo exhibitions.
