Alphonse Jongers was born in Mézières, France in 1872.
After immigrating to Canada he worked briefly in Montéeal, before moving to New York in 1900.
He returned to Montréal in 1924 where heworked successfully as a society portrait painter. He also created bronze sculptures.
He was a member of The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
he died in Montréal, Quebec, in 1965.
