Alexander John Wyse was born in Tewkesbury, England, in 1938. He studied at the Cheltenham College of Art, and the Royal College of Art.
He immigrated to Canada in 1961. He became am engraving and printing instructor in Cape Dorset, Baffin Island.
In 1964 Wyse and his wife moved to Southern Ontario, they finally settled in Ottawa in 1972. Wyse still lives and works in Ottawa.
His works are often mixed media depicting original concepts and new perspectives on landscape scenes. Many of his works are part of private collections.
In 2002, Wyse was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy.
