Alan Wood

Alan Wood was born in 1935 in Widnes, in Lancashire, England. He studied at Liverpool College of Art.

He was a teacher at the Cardiff College of Art in Wales for six years.

Wood moved to Canada in 1971settling British Columbia in 1974. 

His works explore the dynamics of light and colour often depicting the many environments and natural features of our world through abstraction. He sometimes incoporates wood and other mixed media elements into his works. 

In 1983 Wood gained international recognition for “Ranch”, a 320-acre painted construction built in the foothills of the Alberta Rockies.

He has participated in many group and solo exhibitions in Great Britain, Europe, Canada, the United States and Australia.

Wood is a member of The Royal Canadian Academy.
